The main objective of the NeuCaRe Project is to design and implement a higher diploma about neurodevelopment focused on refugee children for professionals involved in their care. In all participating countries, NeuCaRe will qualify professionals by means of a higher diploma in the partner institutions. Therefore, each country will have qualified professionals to work with refugee children in the following aspects:
- Detection of cognitive problems in child development. Along these lines, the environment where children are living is going to have an impact on their cognitive development, for example, on their perception, attention, language skills as well as other cognitive processes. Therefore, it is important to detect such problems for potential treatment.
- Detection of psychopathological problems or disorders. This aspect is also very important to consider due to the fact that experiencing stressful life events could imply the beginning of psychopathological problems related to emotion and stress.
- Referral to other professionals for severe cases. When cases are severe, it is necessary to refer children to specialists.
- Design of intervention programs aimed at cognitive stimulation and educating individuals about the problems mentioned above. The aim of these programs will be to maximally strengthen the mental capacities of the children by means of continual sensorial, socio-communicational and cognitive stimulation. The needs of children and their developmental stage will be considered.
- Prevention of severe developmental disorders. The aim is to reduce risks of subsequent and increasingly severe developmental disorders. If they already exist, the aim will be to prevent additional deterioration.
- Improvement of academic achievement as well the facilitation children's academic development up until university. Learning processes imply the organization and change of different brain structures. Learning requires cognitive processes of the brain such as attention, concentration and memory. The improvement and prevention of problems that could affect these processes will have a positive effect on academic achievement for these children.

Outcomes:
The main objective of the Results will be the same for Palestine and Jordan, as the objectives for both countries are identical. The concrete, tangible results include: - Implement the Higher Diploma in the 4 participating universities. - Acquire the specific university degree that enables trainees to work in refugee camps. - Give specific training in neurodevelopment to the university professors. - Train health and education professionals who would in refugee camps. - Design teaching material, both in English and in Arabic, in order to facilitate its dissemination. An additional tangible result, which would remain stable across time, is the creation of the “Network of good practice in neurodevelopment training,” made up of the 4 universities that participate in the project. With respect to the degree, the expected results are the following: - The success rate to exceed the standards established by the universities. - The degree will be implemented in 4 universities. - If a minimum of 10 students enrol, we could count on 40 students to obtain the Higher Diploma degree in neurodevelopment, which would professionally equip them to work in refugee camps.
