Euro Mediterranean Netwok for Economic Studies (EMNES)

The Euro-Mediterranean Network for Economic Studies - EMNES is a network of partners and associate research institutions and think tanks working on the Mediterranean region. EMNES aims to provide a renewed vision for socio-economic development in the Mediterranean region, mainly focusing on job creation, social inclusion, and sustainable development, producing books, studies, scientific and policy papers.Countries covered: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, and Tunisia

EMNES has four overall objectives:

  1. Form a network of partners and associate research institutions and think tanks working on the Mediterranean region to collaborate to develop a renewed vision for socio-economic development in the Mediterranean region.
  2. Design innovative socio-economic models for the Euro-Mediterranean region that are inclusive, sustainable and employment creative.
  3. Provide policy recommendations towards this goal for the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.
  4. Involve both senior and junior researchers from both Northern and Southern countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region following a bottom-up and participatory approach.

Outcomes:

EMNES develops research activities, disseminated through a series of internal and external publications (studies, working papers, policy papers, commentaries and books) and the organization of events (annual conferences, workshop meetings and seminars) to bring together leading researchers, policy makers and representatives of the civil society to discuss and debate optimal policies for the future of their region.

EMNES will ultimately contribute to the general objective of reinforcing dialogue and promoting socio-economic research and studies in priority themes of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, particularly focusing on employment creation and social inclusion, especially among the youth. It is also designed to ensure the dissemination of the results of these studies and research to civil society and socio-economic policy makers.
