The objectives of the project are:
- To confirm the drought response of well identified drought tolerant and sensitive lentil genotypes under drought stress in greenhouse environment.
- To reveal the drought-responsive genes in the drought tolerant and sensitive lentil genotypes by cDNA suppression subtractive hybridization (cDNA SSH).
- To identify drought-responsive genes using bioinformatics tools.

Outcomes:
- The identification of drought-responsive genes in lentil, which will be a very important research tool for the development of drought-tolerant lentil lines. In addition, this will help in the understanding of how lentil plants respond to drought stress and in deciphering the underlying mechanisms of drought response in lentil.
- The project would open a very valuable opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to learn and apply different molecular techniques. Moreover, the students would be highly trained in the field of plant molecular stress biology and plant biotechnology. These students will be very important addition in their future jobs and eventually this will help in the prosperity of the Jordanian community.
