Industry is currently growing at a remarkable pace in the United Arab Emirates, particularly in Abu Dhabi/ The ever-increasing process discharges from industrial   activities are expected to become a substantial environment concern. Among various water treatment processes, the advanced oxidation process shows great potential for the treatment of wastewaters containing non-easily removable organic compounds.

The project proposes a safe and effective method for wastewater treatment based on the catalytic degradation of organic persistent pollutants. The main aim of the present research is to develop a catalytic degradation method for the removal of dissolved naphthenic acids in industrial effluents by using metal ferrite catalysts. This can be achieved by investigating the catalytic activity of various metal ferrite catalysts, in the presence of H2o2, towards the degradation of models of standard naphthenic acids (NAs) with different Z values, NAs are of special interest due to their high toxicity and low biodegradability.
