The objectives of the study are:

  • Identify the historical roots of clay architecture and its techniques in the Jordan Valley through different time stages. • Raise public awareness of the importance of clay architecture, its historical importance, as well as its role in preserving the ecological balance.
  • Diagnose the shifts in architecture patterns in Jordan during the 20th century. Also to trace the reason for shifts with regard to the change in Relations of Production and Means of Production as well as the transformation of the socioeconomic landscape.
  • Monitor the locally rooted and environment-friendly shifts in the modern (innovative) architecture trends in Jordan. • Submit proposals to improve clay brick technologies so as to enhance its sustainability and increase its resistance to various deterioration factors.
  • Revive urban heritage, and enhancing its role in tourism development projects, making sure to integrate the local community in the processes of reviving cultural heritage and sustainable development.
  • Encourage the engineering sector to support clay architecture by implementing a clay architecture project model either  of a touristic, or cultural, or community-based nature, aiming at fostering humane security for the less privileged groups in Jordan.
  • Motivating researchers from different branches of knowledge, such as archeology, anthropology, architecture and maintenance, to collaborate together through teamwork concept.
  • Publishing the research findings to benefit others.
