The project (Building Entrepreneurship Capacities for Syrian and Jordanian Higher Education Students in Northern Jordan "ENTREPRENEUR") is implemented by Yarmouk University as part of the Grant scheme of the HOPES project funded by the European Union's Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syrian Crisis, the 'Madad Fund' and implemented by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) together with the British Council, Campus France and Nuffic. Syrian crisis puts heavy pressure on the Jordanian society and economy, including the labour market. One proposed response is to enforce unique skills in education that may improve future opportunities. It has been identified, worldwide, that Entrepreneurship is one of these essential skills. Our project, ENTREPRENEUR, proposes to create entrepreneurs through building an on-campus innovation platform for Syrian-refugees (and Jordanian) university students in northern Jordan.
The Specific Objectives of the Project:
- Designing and delivering training courses on entrepreneurship and relevant cutting-edge technologies.
- Building an on-campus incubator to host innovative ideas.
- Connecting the young entrepreneurs with business acceleration programs to help them start their own business.

Outcomes:
The tangible and quick outcomes achieved are:
- A good number of students trained through the various training courses, who are ready to enter the job market.
- A good number of high-quality, innovative ideas hosted in the incubator.
- We conducted a closing ceremony in which all hosted student entrepreneurs presented their work to a wide range of stakeholders from the industry in an attempt to connect them with business acceleration programs or suitable partners from the industry to help them in starting their own new business(es).
- We were able to show a success story from one of the hosted ideas in the incubator, namely "Advertising Fast Food Box ". The idea is to put advertisements on fast food boxes that people see every day, which will guarantee that the advertisement will reach a lot of people.
