The President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Nabil Hailat, and The Director General of the Industrial Estate Company, Mr.Omar Jewed, have signed a memorandum of understanding aiming at enhancing cooperation in different fields, such as implementing training programs and workshops, providing consultations and various technical services, in addition to providing university’s students with training opportunities within the company. The signing of this MOU is based on the mutual belief in the importance of linking industry with the Jordanian universities as part of their strategic plans, which will help promote industrial development, increase local added value and advance the national economy. This can be achieved through the creation of an integrated system that develops the capabilities of all stakeholders and finds innovative solutions, as well as the orientation of projects, systems and university scientific research towards meeting the needs of the industrial sector and developing its competitiveness.
The terms of the MOU include conducting training programs and workshops, the provision of various technical consultations and services, utilizing the expertise of faculty and staff of Yarmouk University in conducting training programs, consultations, courses and diplomas for employees of the Jordanian Industrial Cities Estates. The memorandum also includes cooperation between the two sides to look for financial support and funding mechanisms for the implementation of joint research projects of both parties from various domestic or external Funds and donors. In addition to this, the cooperation will be in terms of providing training opportunities for university students and cooperating on the possibility of implementing and supporting graduate projects and Master's and Doctoral theses of mutual interest.
During the signature ceremony, Prof. Hailat expressed the keenness of Yarmouk University to promote genuine partnership with various enterprises in the industrial sector in Jordan in order to reflect the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn al-Hussein, in bridging the gap between academia and industry, and thus maintaining the sustainable development process in all sectors. He also emphasized the importance of making use of science and academic knowledge to address the obstacles that the institutions of this sector may face at the economic, administrative and social levels, and the significance of developing the services provided by the industry and services sectors in Jordan in order to bring about the desired change and development for the welfare of our Jordanian society. Prof. Hailat said that Yarmouk University is keen to cooperate with all national institutions in providing training opportunities for its students in all fields in order to enhance their knowledge, enhance their skills in dealing with the demands of the labor market, improve their competitiveness in the labor market, and allow them to demonstrate their abilities and access job opportunities that meet their expectations thereafter. He explained that the University pays close attention to enhancing scientific research and implementing scientific projects by the teaching staff, and makes sure to create a sound scientific environment conducive to creativity and innovation, especially in view of the enormous scientific developments that are taking place nowadays, as a result for the communications and technology revolution. .
Prof. Haillat expressed the willingness of Yarmouk University to provide all its expertise in various areas and to form a Joint Task Force to develop a measurable operational plan within a specific time frame for the implementation of joint projects and to conduct applied scientific research that would on one hand benefit the University professors and students, and the Industrial Estate Company on the other hand, which in turn contributes to community service. For his part, Mr. Jewed expressed his pleasure for this partnership with Yarmouk University which holds many outstanding scientific competencies in various fields and is considered a leading scientific authority in Jordan. He stated that Its graduates have a distinguished scientific and practical reputation at the local and regional levels. In cooperation with the academic sector, the company seeks to carry out research studies aimed at highlighting the challenges facing the industrial sector, the most important of which is to study the reasons why young people were reluctant to pursue certain industrial occupations and to propose appropriate solutions to those problems, together with a study of the realities of industrial enterprises and the obstacles facing management and marketing, thereby contributing to the development of the functioning of such enterprises and improving their services.

He stated that Its graduates have a distinguished scientific and practical reputation at the local and regional levels. In cooperation with the academic sector, the company seeks to carry out research studies aimed at highlighting the challenges facing the industrial sector, the most important of which is to study the reasons why young people were reluctant to pursue certain industrial occupations and to propose appropriate solutions to those problems, together with a study of the realities of industrial enterprises and the obstacles facing management and marketing, thereby contributing to the development of the functioning of such enterprises and improving their services. Mr. Jewed pointed out that after 40 years of its establishment, the company has 10 industrial cities spread over various regions of the Kingdom and has 25% of the manufacturing industry in Jordan. The production of these cities accounts for 30% of the Kingdom's total exports. The company, through its industrial cities, provides annually hundreds of jobs in various fields. Hence For this reason came up the idea of partnering with the University, in order to attract its outstanding graduates, provide an opportunity for its students to engage in the field and learn about its reality and requirements, in addition to supporting student researchers to conduct their scientific research, especially in the areas of economics, marketing, engineering, social and psychological sciences.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in presence of the Vice-Presidents of the University, Prof. Mwaffaq Alomoush, Prof. Riad Almomani. Also Dean of Hijjawi faculty for Engineering Technology, Dr. Mwaffaq Otoum , Director of International Relations and Projects Department, Dr. Ghazi Magableh and a number of officials from both sides were present.
