Food Chemistry Laboratory: analytical activities and chemical characterization of food products

Food Microbiology and Fermentation Chemistry Laboratory: focus on food microbiology and fermentation processes, including the isolation and observation of food-related microorganisms, as well as experimental fermentation activities.

General Biochemistry: research and training in fundamental biochemical processes and applications.

Basic and Translational Pharmacology, and Clinical Pharmacology: research on molecular targets of pharmacologically active substances aimed at the treatment of various diseases.

Comparative Anatomy, Ecotoxicology, and Aquatic Toxicology: research in biomonitoring, biomarkers, zoology, and environmental metabolomics, with applications in both biomedicine and environmental sciences.

Note that the student receives 850 euros per month in addition to 530 euros in the allowance of a travel ticket.

Exchange Conditions for Undergraduate Students:
1. The average should not be less than a good grade
2. The applicant must have passed 30 credit hours.
3. Not in his last semester at the university.
4- English language certificate with the score of the English proficiency exam held by the university for this purpose (minimum 70%) or the TOEFL exam
TOEFL (minimum 72%) or IELTS test (minimum 5) within the last five years from the date of application.
5. The student must not have been issued an academic or disciplinary warning or any higher penalty during the current academic year and the previous academic year.
Exchange Conditions for Master's Students:
1. The average should not be less than very good
2. The applicant must have passed 6 credit hours.
3. It should not be in the thesis or comprehensive stage
4 - English language certificate with the score of the English proficiency exam held by the university for this purpose (minimum 70%), TOEFL test (minimum 72%) or IELTS exam (minimum 5) during the last five years from the date of submission of the application.
5. The student must not have been issued an academic or disciplinary warning or any higher penalty during the current academic year and the previous academic year.
Basis of Differentiation:
1. The student's cumulative average, which is allocated to him a maximum of (10) points, and is calculated by converting the cumulative average from (10).
2- The required language and (10) points are allocated to it.
3. (5) points will be deducted for the beneficiaries of student exchange opportunities in advance.
*Approved English language certificates are the English proficiency test conducted by the university ,TOEFL or IELTS only and no other certificate will be accepted.

The University of Messina provides a monthly allowance of €1000.

The student will also receive a travel allowance of approximately €395.
The student must arrive at the University of Messina before 15/12/2025
Eligibility Criteria for Master’s Students:

A minimum GPA of Very Good.
-
Completion of at least 6 credit hours, and currently in the thesis stage, actively conducting research.

Proof of English proficiency taken within the last 5 years from the date of application:

A minimum score of 70% in the English proficiency test conducted by the university for this purpose, OR
-
TOEFL score of at least 72, OR
-
IELTS score of at least 5.

Selection Criteria:
-
Student’s GPA – up to 10 points.

Language proficiency – up to 10 points.
-
A deduction of 5 points will apply to students who have previously benefited from student exchange opportunities.
